My Story

In another life I was a public relations professional, practicing for more than 30 years. Now, living by a beautiful lake in MidCoast Maine, I wile away my time walking my dog, writing, picking up after my dog, teaching, walking my dog. Ahhh, living life the way it should be.

Short Bio

Robert J. Ristino came to writing fiction late in life. Following retirement, the former journalist, U.S. Army officer, public relations executive, college professor, and academic researcher, turned to writing to chronicle the many stories running wild in his head. His first novel, inspired by two of his dogs, was The Illuminati Protocol, the first in a three-book cycle.

Bob holds a doctorate in Mass Communication from the University of Massachusetts. Retired from the faculty at Roger Williams University in Bristol, RI, he has also taught as adjunct faculty in the graduate programs at Clark University in Worcester, MA. He continues teaching as a visiting lecturer at the University of Lodz in Poland while also conducting academic research in organizational studies. He has published more than a dozen research articles in peer-reviewed journals.
During a distinguished 30-year career in organizational communications Bob served in various public relations management positions in both for-profit and non-profit organizations. He is a former president of both the New England Society for Healthcare Communications and the American Society of Health Care Marketing and Public Relations of the American Hospital Association. He has lectured widely before professional groups and associations on a variety of organizational topics.

When he’s not writing suspense thrillers, he volunteers with the Literacy Volunteers of Waldo County. As a volunteer he assists adults in developing and improving their reading skills, as well as preparing newly arrived immigrants for driver’s and naturalization tests.

Bob has authored six books with another on the way, and numerous professional and academic journal articles. He lives on a quiet, loon populated lake in Midcoast Maine with his dog, Bruno, who believes he is as handsome as he is, and a cat, Cooney, who lives with no illusions.

Sharing the Joy of Reading

Because Bob has a passion for reading, especially reading what he writes, he serves as a tutor for the Literacy Volunteers of Waldo County, ME. The LVWC mission is to empower adult learners by increasing their literacy skills, improving opportunity through reading, and enhancing a culture of literacy within their community. As one of many volunteers, Bob helps young and older adults enhance their reading skills so that they can share the joy that books hold for all of us.
